Puma® is a large German sports manufacturer, founded by Rudolf Dassler, brother of Adidas founder Adolf Dassler. Puma is known internationally for its football / soccer shoes, and sportswear. Many international football / soccer stars are sponsored by Puma, such as Pele, Diego Maradona, Enzo Francescoli, Lothar Matthaus and many others.
In 1968 Puma began its influx into the United States making suede basketball shoes. Since then Puma has become the third largest brand worldwide. Nike is number one and Adidas, is the number two sports manufacturer.
Puma now owns 25 percent of Logo Athletic, an American sports brand. Since its inception Puma has gone from making international football shoes to American football, baseball, basketball, motocross, rugby, and golf. Puma designs are for women as well.
